ABOUT US
Established in 2019, Compass Mountain Outfitters is owned and operated by Cassidy Caron, Tom Sallows and Brett Waller. Located in north-eastern British Columbia, the hunting territory extends 5000 sq kilometers and is home to 12 species of big game animals.
Our BC territory is vast covering 5000 square km’s / 3,000 square miles. Surrounded by provincial parks and untouched wilderness, the terrain ranges lush green moose swamps to glacier-crusted peaks stretching up over 9,000 feet elevation. Add on countless alpine lakes, pristine rivers and sunny mountain slopes, you won’t be lacking in scenery. Best of all, the limited access to the area allows us to maintain a population of some of the largest moose, elk, mountain goats, and black bears in Canada — as well as wolves, mule deer, and cougars.
Our amazing wilderness camps take the edge off the fierce wilderness that surrounds them. Base camp is located on a scenic lake and accessible by road. With WiFi, satellite tv, hot water on demand, showers, a professional cook, and private heated bunkhouses, it is the ideal place to unwind after your days of adventure in the field. Our out-post cabin camps are very cozy and strategically placed to get you in the heart of the hunting action.
Our area has been known to produce monster trophies. Antlered game in this region is renowned for horn mass. Our moose, elk and deer call the heavy timber home and it produces heavy horned racks. Climb above the tree line and we have remote valleys of almost un-hunted mountain goats. Spring time is also a wonderful time to see the area and chase world class mountain black bears that consistently push the 6.5’-7’ mark. We take several B&C class specimens each season, it doesn’t matter which species you choose to pursue, this area is capable of producing the trophy of a lifetime in all categories.

And while we can never guarantee the outcome of a hunt, we consider it our jobs to maximize your chances of success. This starts with coming up with a personalized plan that accounts for your fitness, experience, and time limitations. Meet the team
Tom Sallows
Tommy was also born for the bush. Raised by a skilled hunter in the same part of the Rockies that he guides in today, he learned the craft the right way from boyhood. As he put in the work, requests came in for guiding and TV work. And one day he decided to take those experiences and start up Mountain Man Adventures, which he’s now merged into Compass Mountain Outfitters (combining guides, tags, and territories). Though he has extensive experience guiding and hunting for other trophies (mountain sheep, elk, mountain goats, bears, deer, etc.), his true passion is moose. Every year he calls in record-book bulls for happy clients who get to witness his one of a kind “horny cow” impersonation. Tommy currently runs a trapline in the area during the winter and spends the summers hiking and fishing.
Cassidy Caron
Cass grew up in the Southern BC Rockies and went on her first sheep hunt at the age of 10. Within six years she’d taken part in successful hunts for every species of sheep in Canada. By her early 20s, she was guiding bighorn hunts herself, including seven years in the Northwest Territories guiding for Dalls, Alaska moose, and mountain caribou (while also outfitting for spring bears in BC). Don’t let her size fool you. She once took down an 8’4″ grizzly on a solo backpack trip. She’s hunted all over the world, from the Arctic to New Zealand, with trophies from four continents and counting. But now she’s back to her first love: the Rockies. And when she’s not there with clients, she’s there for herself. Because there’s nowhere else she’d rather be.
Brett Waller
Brett grew up in the peace country and is very experienced in the territory. Growing up, Brett spent many years hunting and guiding in the area. He has been very successful guiding for elk, deer, moose, bear, waterfowl, and predators. Although he is a serious slayer in the field, around camp Brett is funny and laid back. A passionate family man, Brett enjoys sharing his knowledge of the outdoors with his two young daughters. He is an incredibly focused and determined hunter. He is highly skilled at calling antlered game, which elk and moose are his specialty. If you want a hunt that gets you on big bull while laughing until your guts hurt, Brett is your guy.
